        Chapter 1 - Lost

    Dex woke up one day very early shivering from cold, and remembered that he was camping in River Hill Valley National Park Banff. He heard his sister River in the other tent telling their mom that she was hungry. Dex unzips the tent and says good morning to his family. 

Dex asks River if she would like to go for a walk after breakfast. They gobbled down their breakfast and packed a snack and their water bottles. Dex snuck some leftover apple crisp from last nights dessert. They jumped on their bikes ready for adventure. 

While they bike Dex notices something unusual ahead of them but thought he was imagining things, he was sweaty and tired from riding up the big hill. He swore he saw a big hole, but when he looked again he just saw a patch of grass. They kept on biking and the grass fell to pieces under their tires and they fell into the ground. Dex fell into one tunnel and River fell into a different one. 

Dex and River panic and begin running through the tunnels in search of each other. 

River spots a shining light, she runs over to it and discovers a huge rock cavern and sitting right in the middle of it is an airplane. River begins to feel hopeful that she may be able to escape these weird underground tunnels, but first she has to find her brother. 

River decides to crawl towards the airplane sneaking a peek into the windows, Rivers chest was tight with worry. The plane appears to be empty, when she stands back up she steps on something metal and discovers that it is a key. She slowly opens the cockpit door, and sticks the key in the slot. She looks up through the front window and notices for the first time, that in front of the plane is a road with yellow stripes on it, like a runway. The plane was aligned perfectly on the runway as if waiting to take off. 

        Chapter 2 - Fly

        Dex trips over a rock while running aimlessly through the tunnels, Dex sits up wiping the dirt from his sweater, and thinks "the more I run the more lost I am getting". Dex tries to retrace his steps, but cannot remember where he came from. Then he remembers that he had found pebbles on his bike ride, and had put them in his pocket, he checked his pocket and found that there was a hole and the pebbles were gone. He gets his flashlight from his backpack and looks for a pebble on the ground, he finds it and looks for the next one. The pebbles give Dex hope. 

    River wonders, as she looks at the runway, if someone had intentionally flown the plane here or if it had crashed. River turns the key and the plane revs to life, she notices a small book by her foot, she scrounges to grab the book, hoping that it is a manual. She opens it up, and exactly as she hoped it was a manual. thankfully it is a small book, so it only takes her 10 minutes to read. She figures out how to fly the plane. She noticed on the steering wheel of the plane inscribed on it was the words "The Secret Society of the Underground". She feels nervous that she is going to crash the plane into the cavern wall, but she pushes the throttle forward anyways. As she pushes the throttle more and more the plane begins to move faster and faster down the runway, she adjusts the flaps and the plane takes off up into the open cavern. She turns the plane and directs it towards the tunnel her brother fell into. 

        Chapter 3 - Found

    River directs the plane into the tunnel her brother fell into, she remembers the pebbles her brother collected on the bike ride. She focuses on the pebbles and follows them with the plane, remembering that her brothers pocket has a hole. 

    Dex stops in his tracks, wondering what on earth he was hearing, it sounded like propellers, he stands his ground but his foot hits something metal, the metal he hit was a sword. He noticed that the sword was inscribed with the words "The Secret Society of the Underground".

    The lights from the plane reflect off something shiny ahead, River lands the plane, and gets out to check out what it is. She hears "River is that you?" and sees Dex. Dex drops the sword and they run to each other, they give each other a hug and River says "Lets get into the plane and fly home, but before seeing our parents we have to ditch the plane". "You know how to fly a plane?? Also where did you get a plane? How is the plane in perfect condition?" Dex questions River. "Well it wasn't a short story but I found the plane in the tunnel that I fell into" River replies. "Well lets get into that plane and go home, I am starving and I am ready for lunch" says Dex. 

        Chapter 4 - Home

    They both climb up into the plane and River revs the plane to life, they click their seatbelts, they give each other a look and then River presses the throttle forward and they zoom forward and up into the air. Dex grips his chair and yells above the engine "are you sure you know how to fly this thing?!" River doesn't respond but she angles the plane up and up and up they finally fly out of the tunnel and up into the air above the campground. River flys just far enough away that they quietly land the plane, hiding the key. They walk back happily to the camp site ready for a s'more.
